چکیده

Recently, the ideal free dispersal strategy has been proven to be evolutionarily stable in the spatially discrete as well as continuous setting. That is, at equilibrium a species adopting the strategy is immune against invasion by any species carrying a different dispersal strategy, other conditions being held equal. In this paper, we consider a two-species competition model where one of the species adopts an ideal free dispersal strategy, but is penalized by a weak Allee effect. We will show rigorously in this case that the ideal free disperser is invasible by a range of non-ideal free strategies, illustrating the trade-off between the advantage of being an ideal free disperser and the setback caused by the weak Alee effect. Moreover, a sharp integral criterion is given to determine the stability/instability of one of the semi-trivial steady state, which is always linearly neutrally stable due to the degeneracy caused by the weak Allee effect.

Ideal of Lattice homomorphisms corresponding to the products of two arbitrary lattices and the lattice [2]

Abstract. Let L and M be two finite lattices. The ideal J(L,M) is a monomial ideal in a specific polynomial ring and whose minimal monomial generators correspond to lattice homomorphisms ϕ: L→M. This ideal is called the ideal of lattice homomorphism. In this paper, we study J(L,M) in the case that L is the product of two lattices L_1 and L_2 and M is the chain [2]. We first characterize the set...

Microsatellite-based parentage analysis reveals non-ideal free distribution in a parasitoid population.

Habitat selection by dispersers is the focus of much theoretical models, most of which are based on the assumption of negative density dependence. The archetype of these models is the ideal free distribution, characterized by an evolutionary stable state where more competitors aggregate in better habitats, so that the fitness benefit of resource abundance is equally offset by the cost of compet...

Patterns of patch rejection in size-structured populations: beyond the ideal free distribution and size segregation

We examine optimal patch allocation strategies in a population structured by size or some other characteristic. By treating size-specific differences among patches as limiting factors, we create a single framework to analyse foraging for two resources, foraging in the presence of predators and foraging in the presence of competition. The ideal free distribution or size segregation are optimal o...

Scaling up ideals to freedom: are densities of red knots across western Europe consistent with ideal free distribution?

Local studies have shown that the distribution of red knots Calidris canutus across intertidal mudflats is consistent with the predictions of an ideal distribution, but not a free distribution. Here, we scale up the study of feeding distributions to their entire wintering area in western Europe. Densities of red knots were compared among seven wintering sites in The Netherlands, UK and France, ...

T-stage of non-small cell lung cancer directly invading an adjacent lobe.

OBJECTIVES Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) invading the visceral pleura is classified as T2 stage, and NSCLC invading the chest wall, diaphragm, phrenic nerve, mediastinal pleura or parietal pleura is classified as T3. But, there is no definition as to whether tumours directly invading an adjacent lobe beyond the fissure should be classified as T2 or T3. We assessed whether these tumours sho...
